“Always ready...” could be Jinny’s catch phrase. This mother of four, grandmother of two – an active woman who manages two textile companies – doesn’t take shortcuts when it comes to serving the Lord. Thanks to her, her team, and all who support this part of the work financially, our workers are spoilt, satisfied, and kept in good health!
Serving lunch to the workers!
“The desire to help on the site was already in my heart from the beginning, but because of poor health, I couldn’t lift anything. In early November, on a scorching hot day, I came to the site. I brought fruit and ice-cold water which was really welcomed with open arms. The guys applauded every fresh mouthful. Their response touched me deeply. So, I started to come twice a week, and then three times...”
By January many people had it on their hearts to come and support the workers. “We had our first committee meeting to organise various menus depending on the number of people. Every afternoon, we give out water, juice, and a snack. We also distribute bananas three times a week. But above all, the church in Chaville, France, volunteered to raise funds in order to help our team. This is really a blessing! Since February, we bring tea or coffee, but also practical things: overalls, gumboots, T-shirts, a first aid kit. We hope to have electricity before winter arrives, so that we can cook here on the site”.
A meal is also prepared for the 8th wonder of the world! What, don’t you know? It's the site mascot, “Wonder”, a little labrador dog, who comes to make sure that everyone is working well, and at the same time, takes advantage of all the pampering and hugs given him by the troop!
For the washing up, don’t think that those who receive the lunch take turns to do it, that would be too simple. They organised a game to see who would wash everything. Listen… “Rock, Paper, Scissors! The paper covers the rock, its your turn!” Thankfully, this job doesn’t always fall on the same person, but apparently, one of them has managed to escape until today, and is impatiently waiting his turn… Don’t worry Keegs, your day will come soon!
